Table Skirting is the cloth that forms the border
of the table. It runs along the edge of the table and gives the table a
soft welcoming look be it the arrangement of a hotel table or a
conference hall or home. The skirting are pleated in different fashions
to give the appropriate formal or an informal

appearance.
When properly done it can bring life to an ordinary table setting in a
formal environment.
Skirting is lightly gathered with panels to give ease of sitting at a
dining table whilst maintaining a draped effect. The skirting are easily
attached to the edge of the table which is concealed by the tablecloth.
The skirting can be pleated in many ways , the most common being
Diamond, Shirred and Box. Rest are modifications and combinations of
these.
The Skirting cloth usually has a luxurious look. Velvets and satins are
the most appealing fabrics for the purpose. They are soft to touch have
a glow and are not very hard to maintain. The cloth can be plain pastel
or it can be dyed or printed, painted and embroidered. Be it
contemporary or traditional the patterns for printed embroidered and
painted skirtings are usually cool pastels on a lighter background.
