Topiary Flowers Topiary is the skilled art of clipping or trimming foliage or flower arrangements so that they take on take on the shapes of animals, lettering, numbers, or various but precise geometric forms. The early colonists brought the ancient art of topiary to this country. One can carry on the tradition with these beautiful created topiary. They can have a variety of dried flowers arranged. Fanciful topiaries always seem to fascinate and spark the imagination of delightful gardeners and plant lovers.

Making a Topiary
  • Take 4 Styrofoam balls and slice one of them with a serrated knife to one third of the way down.
  • Push a stick into the center of the ball so it stands straight. Apply a little low melt glue around the stick to hold it in place.
  • Spray the second ball green and make small holes in it.
  • Dip the boxwood branches into hot glue and place them in the holes of the ball. Continue until the ball is covered.
  • Add a variety of dried flowers, balancing colors around the ball. Dip each flower in hot glue and place among the boxwood branches.
  • Push the boxwood and flower covered ball onto the stick in the pot.
  • Repeat the same with the rest of two balls.
  • Add small pieces of moss to hide the bottom ball and create a finished look.
