Dried Palm Fronds Artificial palm trees have become an integral part of home and office decoration. They require little maintenance and are durable enough to last for years. Because of their classic, regal shape and lively tropical personality, artificial palm trees are easily incorporated into any decor. They will maintain their vibrant and fresh look for years.

Versatility is the name given to the game when it comes to artificial palm trees. The palm fronds are thin and airy revealing differnt shades of green for different stages of growth.

Uses

Dried leaves of palms are carved into beads and buttons. They are great for toppings on beverages. Dried palm leaves are used for traditional lontar books on which are written religious texts. They are excellent source of weaving material and can be used to make floats, rafts and ropes. They are also woven into mats, baskets and other household items. Dried fronds are used as thatching.

They have varied medicinal uses also. A soothing tea is made from dried fruits. It is prescribed for frequency of urination and excessive night urination due to inflammation of the bladder and prostate enlargements. The extract made from dried fruits is taken by men as preventive therapy for prostate enlargement. Starch is obtained by cutting the palm and opening the trunk where the soft wood is completely penetrated with starch. The starch is dried and cooked in numerous native dishes, often as a principal food for survival.
