Lycopodium

Lycopodium is a running, evergreen, rhizomatous plant. It is a flowerless herb with an erect, prostrate or creeping widely branched stem. They have simple leaves that cover the stem and branches. The fertile leaves are arranged in cones and bear spore cases in their axils.

It requires dry and cool place to grow well. Soil used should be acidic and drained well depending on the site of cultivation and climatic conditions.



Uses
A kind of yellow powder is present on the leaves, which is used in fireworks, and as a covering for pillows. Dried lycopodium is used for making herbal tea, which is good for diarrhea, urinary complains, and inflammations. They are used on wounds and eczema. They are also used as diuretic and sedative.

Magicians use them to create lightening flashes and other pyrotechnics. They also aid in making a dusting powder for skin diseases. They are added in incense to commune with the Gods and Goddesses.
